Q: Define what characteristics your favorite books share. Do they all have a kickass heroine or is the hot love interest the Alpha Male?
My favorite books all:1) Were written in a way that absolutely drew me in. When I first read Gone With the Wind (I was in middle school), the story and the writing enthralled me. I could not put the book down which absolutely shocked me (and my friends) since it was by far the longest book I had tackled at the time.
2) Have a timeless story that can transcend time. I have read and watched many re-interpretations of Pride and Prejudice and while nothing trumps the original--they always draw me back to Elizabeth and Darcy's story!
3) Have characters that stay with me long after the last page. Aria and Percy both intrigued me--and I cannot wait to have another installment so I can read more.
What prompts you to claim a book as one of your favorites?
I love Pride and Prejudice! Great answer! Reading to Penguins
ReplyDeleteUnder the Never Sky was awesome! Happy Friday :)

Hopping through. Great idea of a timeless tale. It's nice when books never get old.

Good answer! I must admit, I have neither watched nor read Gone With the Wind (oops) but I understand what you mean. AND I'm right there with you in regards to Pride & Prejudice!!!

ReplyDelete@Jessi It was. I really loved it!
@Alison I love the timeless ones.
@WildIrishRose33 Oh my goodness--I cannot believe you have never met Rhett Butler. He is another of my literary crushes. :)
Under the Never Sky is a book I want to read for my personal "March of Dystopians" challenge in March(duh--lol). A friend of mine LOVED it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not big on dystopians, so I'm kind of forcing myself into the world.
A good Contemporary with a hot lead guy and a girl who is strong minded always helps! :)

@Shanise I have a good friend who is not a big fan of dystopian. She does not see the appeal--and even though I love them I cannot explain it to even her. :)
ReplyDelete@Melliane I loved Under the Never Sky!
@Patricia I agree sometimes the stories that stick with me the longest stick with me for the wrong reason.
